An evening of Clay Creation & Local History in a Second Generation Pottery Workshop in the Historic Seaside Village of Ardmore.

Join the Lincoln family potters and learn to hand build and finish your own signature piece of pottery. Our workshop is perched on a cliff side location overlooking the spectacular Ardmore Bay. Experienced potter Sarah Lincoln will guide you through two hours of creative fun and tactile exploration, as you make something wonderful - a bowl, a cup or your own unique design. 

As well as an evening of clay creation, Sarah will share some local stories of Ardmore. The village is a centre of medieval history, with Ireland’s best preserved Round Tower and early Christian ruins dating back to the fifth century. As part of this experience you will receive a complimentary copy of the beautifully illustrated booklet, A Walk Around Ardmore. Written by Sarah's grandmother, you can use this printed treasure for further exploration of this historic place.

What to Expect at Clay by the Bay -

- Guided hand building pottery making with an expert local potter. 

- All materials are provided so that you can create a bespoke piece of pottery i.e; 2 kilograms of white earthenware clay, selection of glazes, pottery tools, books for inspiration & pottery aprons.

- A completed piece of pottery made by you: one of your pieces from the experience will go forward to be glazed and fired. Once through this process (3 weeks after the experience) your pot will be food and dishwasher safe. The piece can then be posted to you.

- You will have an opportunity to buy after hours from one of Ireland’s premiere Craft & Design shops stocking over 150 authentic Irish makers. We offer tax free shopping and a shipping service from shop to home for our overseas customers. 

- You will receive your own complimentary copy of the beautifully printed booklet - A Walk Around Ardmore. This booklet highlights the heritage sites around Ardmore village. It is written by Sarah’s grandmother and illustrated by her aunt.

Booking Clay by the Bay outside of the scheduled dates are subject to minimum numbers or the equivalent in charges (Minimum x 4 people or equivalent in charges of €360). 

For 2025 we are offering evening slots for this experience (6.30 – 8.30pm).

We can accommodate a maximum of 8 people per Clay by the Bay session.  

Finished pottery pieces will be available for collection from the shop 3 weeks after you attend Clay by the Bay.

Alternatively, items can be packaged and posted for an additional charge within Ireland and worldwide. The charge will be based on the size, weight and final destination for the item. This cost will be advised on the evening.

We can accommodate children aged 13 years or older.

On street parking is available. If alerted in advance we can reserve a space near our front door for anyone with limited mobility. 

Accessibility note: there is a ramp into the building and the interior is all on one level. 

Cancellation Policy - to request a cancellation and refund, you must email katie@ardmorepottery.com. Bookings cancelled more than 7 days before the class will be refunded in full. Classes cancelled after that will be refunded 50%. There will be no refunds once the class begins. Thank you.
